Harry Styles Shines at the 2025 Tokyo Marathon

Two years ago, the world was abuzz with headlines surrounding Harry Styles and an infamous spitting incident. Fast forward to today, and Styles has captured attention once again, this time due to his remarkable performance at the 2025 Tokyo Marathon, where he finished with an impressive time of 3:24:07. The focus has shifted from pop stardom to athletic prowess as fans and critics alike discuss Styles’ marathon splits.

Mastering the Marathon

At 31 years old, Styles demonstrated a professional level of pacing during the marathon held on March 2. He passed the half marathon mark at 1:42:03 and completed the second half in 1:42:04, showcasing an almost flawless even split. Averaging a pace of 7:47 per mile, Styles ranked 6,010th out of over 37,000 participants, a commendable feat for a celebrity diverging into competitive running.

Comparative Athleticism: Styles vs. Professionals

It’s important to note that while Styles’ time is impressive, he did not compete against elite runners such as Tadese Takele, who secured the top spot for men with a blistering time of 2:03:23, or women’s champion Sutume Asefa Kebede, who crossed the finish line at 2:16:31. However, comparing Styles to fellow celebrities who are also known for their work outside running offers an interesting perspective on his achievement.

Celebrity Marathon Finish Times

The marathon times of notable celebrities are often intriguing. For instance, Styles completed his marathon faster than actor Ashton Kutcher, whose time in the 2022 NYC Marathon was 3:54:01. Styles also eclipsed the time of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, who ran a charity marathon in 3:41:49, despite the latter’s unique attire that only included a tube sock. Additionally, DJs and celebrities like Diplo and former U.S. President George W. Bush also found themselves behind Styles, with times of 3:55:16 and 3:44:52 respectively.

Elite Celebrity Marathoners

While Styles has outperformed numerous celebrities, it’s essential to highlight the impressive marathon accomplishments of others in the entertainment industry. Notably, Bryan Cranston completed the 1980 NYC Marathon with a time of 3:20:45, and Nev Schulman finished in under three hours at 2:58:54. Joe Strummer, the late punk rock icon, unofficially completed the 1983 Paris Marathon in 3:20. Strummer humorously advised against training, suggesting potential runners indulge in ten pints of beer the night before a race.

Running for Everyone

The beauty of marathon running lies in its universality; all runners share a common objective: to put one foot in front of the other. For those motivated by Styles’ performance, whether they’re seasoned runners or newcomers, the path to completing a marathon starts with commitment and training. Websites like Runner’s World provide excellent resources and programs designed to guide individuals in mastering the marathon distance.

Conclusion: Inspiration from Harry Styles

As Harry Styles continues to break boundaries, both in music and athletics, his recent marathon success serves as a motivational tale for aspiring runners everywhere. Whether you aim to achieve your first marathon or simply improve your personal record, remember that effective training and expert advice can help you reach your goals. Styles’ disciplined approach in Tokyo could serve as a model for anyone looking to tackle their own marathon journey.
