Kiwoom Securities to Host Inclusive Running Event for Disabled and Non-Disabled Participants

On the occasion of Disabled People’s Day, Kiwoom Securities is set to organize an inclusive marathon, the “2025 Kiwoom Run,” to promote understanding and support between disabled and non-disabled individuals. Scheduled for May 19, 2025, the event will take place at the scenic Mulbit Stage in Yeouido Hangang Park, Seoul. Kiwoom Securities will serve as the main sponsor, supporting the event organized by Muui Corporation.

The primary objective of the Kiwoom Run is to foster a culture of inclusivity, whereby both disabled and non-disabled participants can run together, honoring and respecting their differences. Instead of focusing on competition, the event aims to create an environment where participants can support and encourage each other while running at their own pace. This initiative emphasizes camaraderie and shared experiences over individual achievements, aligning with the spirit of unity.

Registration for the event opens soon, with a capacity of 2,025 runners to be filled on a first-come, first-served basis via the official Kiwoom Run website. The participation fee is set at 25,000 won, which Kiwoom Securities will match with an equal donation. Both the fees and donations will be directed towards various projects aimed at enhancing disability awareness and supporting initiatives for disabled individuals.

Participants will have the option of completing either a 5km or 10km running course, with commemorative medals awarded to those who finish the race. The event’s venue will feature essential amenities and support services tailored to accommodate different runners. These include wheelchair-accessible transport for emergencies, changing rooms with accessible features, and stability rooms designed to support participants with developmental disabilities.

The Kiwoom Run will also implement a “together runner” system, where designated runners assist those who may face challenges during the event. This initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring that all participants can enjoy the experience fully, regardless of their physical abilities. In addition to the race, the event will host a variety of cultural performances, including appearances by well-known personalities, such as actor Ko Min-si and the band Crying Nut, promising an engaging atmosphere for attendees.

In celebration of the occasion, Kiwoom Securities is offering additional incentives for participants. A total of 20 million won in domestic and U.S. stocks will be raffled among runners, alongside immediate souvenir giveaways at the Kiwoom booth. The booth will also provide special offers for those who open new tax-saving accounts, as well as exclusive lottery opportunities for popular running shoes, making the event enticing beyond the running experience.

Corporate sponsorships play a crucial role in enhancing the event. Partnering companies, such as Lotte Chilsung Beverage and Doosan, have committed to providing essential supplies and financial support. Several organizations will set up booths, offering free samples and services to attendees, including Dr. PL’s health products and Kakao Mobility’s transport services for disabled participants. CEO Um Joo-sung of Kiwoom Securities expressed his commitment to addressing social issues, stating, “We will continue to work on solving various social problems in the running culture that is growing in popularity.”
