Registration for the annual Snooze Mattress & Wellness Lake Norman Turkey Trot is now open for runners who want to join the event in person or virtually.

Mooresville, United States, October 16, 2025 — Epic Sports Marketing has officially announced that the Snooze Mattress & Wellness Lake Norman Turkey Trot will return for its 19th year, presenting a fantastic opportunity for local runners and families to engage in a healthy and community-focused celebration this Thanksgiving Day.

About the Lake Norman Turkey Trot

This annual event is a highlight on the calendar for many, combining fitness with the spirit of giving back to the community. As the only half-marathon that exists within a 150-mile radius of Charlotte, NC, it underscores the event’s significance not just for participants, but for the local community as well.

Support Local Initiatives

This year’s Turkey Trot will benefit the Human Health Project, a charitable initiative dedicated to providing essential food and resources to local shelters. Participants are encouraged to make a difference by bringing non-perishable food donations during the registration process. In addition, athletes looking to support the cause can also make digital currency donations by reaching out directly to the organizers.

Race Options and Details

The Turkey Trot features multiple race options suitable for every skill level: a half marathon (13.1 miles) which kicks off at 7:30 am, followed by a 10K at 7:35 am, and a 5K at 7:40 am. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual run option is available, enabling participants to complete their chosen distance at their convenience while still receiving the official race swag.

All race events will start and finish at Life Fellowship Church in Cornelius, setting a scenic backdrop for the participants. “From medals to hoodies, we ensure that no participant leaves the event empty-handed,” stated a spokesperson from Epic Sports Marketing.

What Participants Will Receive

Every participant will receive a collection of race goodies, including a medal, a short-sleeve tech shirt, a cup, and a beanie to commemorate their achievement. Additionally, those who register for the half marathon before the cutoff date of October 20 will receive a stylish hoodie to keep them warm during the festivities.

Recognition and Awards

The event will recognize the top finishers in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K categories with overall and age-group awards. Furthermore, virtual participants will receive a participation medal, race shirt, and assorted swag delivered directly to them following the race.

Event Schedule

Participants should take note of the event’s schedule starting with an online pre-race webinar on November 24. Packet pick-up will occur on the same day at Charlotte Running Company, with additional opportunities for pick-up available on November 26 and on race day, November 27, beginning at 6:30 am. The half marathon course will remain open until 11:15 am, allowing ample time for runners to complete the race.

A Cherished Community Tradition

Initially launched nearly two decades ago, the Lake Norman Turkey Trot has developed into a treasured Thanksgiving tradition in Cornelius and the wider Mecklenburg area. With its growing popularity, the event now attracts runners from across the Charlotte region and beyond.

Registration Information

Ahead of the big day, interested participants are encouraged to register early to guarantee their swag and join the community in a celebration of health, wellness, and giving back this Thanksgiving.
