The latest running news from Natick, Massachusetts, features exciting achievements from both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams at Natick High School, along with vital information for local non-profits interested in participating in the upcoming Boston Marathon and details on an eagerly anticipated community event.

Natick High School’s John Bianchi Dominates Divisionals

In a remarkable showing at the MIAA Division 1B championships held in Wrentham, John Bianchi of Natick High School clinched the top spot for the boys’ team with an impressive time of 15:51.60 in the 5K race on Saturday, November 8. Bianchi’s performance not only highlighted his personal prowess but also played a crucial role in supporting the team’s overall standing.

Alongside Bianchi, teammates Declan Hava, Callum Doyle, and Freddie Van der Velden also excelled. Hava finished third, while Doyle and Van der Velden secured seventh and ninth positions, respectively, making a strong showing that resulted in the Redhawks finishing as the runner-up to Concord-Carlisle.

While the boys’ team emerged as a standout, the girls’ team also made strides, finishing eighth overall. Samantha McMorrow was the top runner for the girls, continuing to raise the profile of Natick High’s cross-country talent.

Looking ahead, the All States championships are set for November 15 in Devens, Massachusetts, providing yet another opportunity for these athletes to shine on a larger stage.

Applications Now Open for Boston Marathon Bibs

In a community-focused initiative, Natick is inviting local non-profits and municipal departments to apply for invitational bibs for the prestigious Boston Marathon. These bibs allow non-profits to use the marathon as a fundraiser while raising awareness for their causes.

Organizations interested in obtaining one of these bibs must complete their applications by 12:30 p.m. on November 28. Selected runners will be required to commit to raising a minimum of $4,500 for their chosen organizations, linking the spirit of service with the excitement of race day.

For any questions regarding this program, interested parties can reach out to Donna Donovan of the Town of Natick at 508-647-6410 or via email at ddonovan@natickma.org.

Frosty 5K Registration Open

Mark your calendars for a beloved annual tradition—the Frosty 5K—scheduled for December 7 at 9 a.m., taking place at Natick High School. This event is particularly special as it is organized by the Natick High cross country and track teams, directly benefitting them and promoting local athletic programs.

Participants can register online, ensuring they have ample time to prepare for the race. Additionally, the organizers are seeking volunteers and sponsors to help make this event a success, further engaging the community in its support of local athletics.

With these events on the horizon—all while showcasing the impressive achievements of Natick High athletes—the running community in Natick continues to thrive. Stay tuned as these stories unfold, and consider participating in one of the upcoming opportunities.
