Simple Steps Ageless Wonder Walk n Jog: Celebrating Senior Vitality

The Simple Steps Fitness group, in collaboration with GenS Life, is proud to announce the fourth edition of the Simple Steps Ageless Wonder Walk n Jog. Scheduled for February 23, 2025, at the Pune University Sports Complex, this premier running event is dedicated exclusively to seniors aged 60 and above. The partnership with GenS Life, a groundbreaking digital platform focused on empowering India’s 60+ community, underscores the event’s commitment to promoting health and wellness within this vibrant demographic.

Event Highlights and Categories

This year’s event will feature three specially designed categories to cater to different fitness levels: a non-competitive 3km fun run, along with competitive 5km and 10km races. Importantly, there is also an “Athlete on Wheels” category aimed at including physically challenged participants, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to partake in this community celebration. The growth of the event is notable, with participation increasing from 200 runners in 2022 to an anticipated 800 in 2025.

Empowering Seniors Through Physical Activity

Meenakshi Menon, Founder of GenS Life, emphasizes the significance of participation, stating, “Every finisher at the Simple Steps Ageless Wonder exemplifies the extraordinary potential of the human spirit.” She highlights that seniors, by staying active and engaged, can overcome the challenges often associated with aging. Participants are not just racing; they are making a bold statement that vitality knows no age limits. This message resonates deeply, fostering a sense of pride among participants as they complete their personal challenges.

Collaboration with Inspirational Brands

Ashish Kasodekar, Founder of Simple Steps Fitness and Badwater 135 Ultra Marathon finisher, expresses pride in partnering with GenS Life, noting the brand’s unwavering commitment to empowering India’s senior generation. He believes that running transcends mere physical endurance; it is a journey of self-discovery that reveals the remarkable abilities residing within individuals, regardless of their age. Together, they aim to inspire a more active lifestyle among seniors.

A Cultural Celebration of Ageless Spirit

This year’s event will introduce a unique cultural aspect, featuring performances by senior dancers from Mumbai and Pune, who embody the spirit of ageless vitality. Beyond the race itself, the celebration includes vintage car displays, nostalgic music performances, laughter yoga sessions, and comprehensive health workshops during the pre-event expo scheduled for February 22. This cultural fusion enriches the experience, fostering community connections among participants.

Community Engagement and Rewards

GenS Life, acting as the Community App Partner, aligns seamlessly with the event’s mission to foster an engaged, connected senior community. Their involvement will utilize technology to enhance participant experiences and facilitate community building. Participants can look forward to receiving finisher medals, e-certificates, and goodie bags, with special prizes awarded to different age categories, ranging from 60-64 years to 85+ years.

Registration Details and Participation Costs

Registration for the Simple Steps Ageless Wonder Walk n Jog is now open at this link. Entry fees vary, with the 3km category priced at Rs. 400 and the 10km race at Rs. 600. Additionally, family members can accompany participants for a nominal fee of Rs. 200, encouraging families to support and engage with their loved ones in this empowering event.
