LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The anticipation for the 2026 miniMarathon and Marathon is building, and runners of all levels are invited to join in on the excitement. The Kentucky Derby Festival, in collaboration with Norton Sports Health, is revived their annual free training program tailored for those prepping for this invigorating event. This initiative aims to support both novice and seasoned runners as they prepare for one of the most celebrated athletic events in Kentucky.

Overview of the Training Program

Starting on Thursday, November 13, at 9 a.m., registration for this comprehensive 15-week training program will officially open. Enthusiasts can register through the Kentucky Derby Festival’s website. The highly anticipated 2026 miniMarathon and Marathon are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 25.

Benefits of Joining the Program

Whether participants are training for their first mini or just looking to improve their time, this free program provides the tools and motivation they need to reach the Finish Line.”

The free training program is designed to cater to runners of various experience levels. It includes a range of valuable resources such as a quick reference Official Training Plan and a free online training manual. Participants will also benefit from in-person weekly group runs led by professionals from Norton Sports Health, comprehensive nutrition tips, and various other perks.

Exclusive Perks for Early Registrants

The first 1,000 participants to register for the training program will receive a complimentary tech shirt, making this opportunity even more enticing for new runners. Kicking Off the Training Program

The excitement doesn’t end with registration. A kickoff event is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the esteemed Kentucky Derby Museum, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This event will offer attendees an exclusive preview of the race medals for both the miniMarathon and the Marathon, as well as an opportunity to view the course map. Furthermore, participants can shop and customize their official race gear, enjoy a plethora of photo opportunities, and tour intriguing exhibits at the museum.
